Golden Retriever
At Stormy Hill Golden Retrievers, we strive to stay true to the original purpose of the Golden Retriever. The Golden Retriever was developed as a gentleman’s hunting companion and as such, we encourage natural hunting and prey driveability in our lines.
We love active families and also those seeking to find a working breed for sport or therapy. Our dogs have excelled in obedience, therapy work, service work, shed hunting, scent work and hunting sports all the while sharing space with us. Even with all that work, we hold 4 current therapy dog certifications with our dogs to also demonstrate the fantastic off switch and innate understanding of the needs of humans when it comes to therapeutic work.
We strive to have goldens that are biddable, hard-working, prey driven but also goldens who are a joy to have in the house lounging beside us at the end of a long day. Our goldens share space with us and with our children, including one with special needs, so temperament is of the utmost importance.
Active HRC members
We are active members of HRC with two of our dogs titled at the HR level and 3 at the SHR level. We are still planning on pursuing HRCH level as well. Our children are involved with hunt testing often acting as bird boys at hunt tests.
Therapy Dog Certified
As we brag about the off switch on our dogs we wanted to give back and demonstrate how amazing and calm they can be when needed. We hold 4 active therapy dog certifications and volunteer in local nursing homes, children's programs, and 4H groups with our dogs.
CGC title holders
We train our pups from the moment they are with us in basic obedience as this is the foundation for everything we do. We hold multiple CGC titles with our dogs.
Stormy Hill Commercial work
Our dogs and pups we bred have been featured on an AKC commercial, in dog food print ads, on the cover of Hunting Retriever Magazine and we even had a pup we bred acting as the star in a production of "Annie" in Michigan.
